The venue
In the heart of Sants, the Foment Republicà, formerly Ateneu Batllori, has stood since 1877. Its eclectic architecture, with classic details and facade reliefs, marks it as a Local Cultural Heritage Site. This athenaeum transcended its original purpose, becoming the birthplace of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya in 1931 and hosting the first editions of the Jocs Florals de Sants. It's the last bastion of the neighborhood's 19th-century athenaeums, a testament to the civic and cultural effervescence that shaped Sants' identity.
