The venue

In Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera, the Fossar de les Moreres embodies Barcelona's historical memory. This site, an ancient medieval cemetery next to Santa Maria del Mar, became the final resting place for the city's defenders after the 1714 siege. Carme Fiol's 1989 intervention revealed the spot, paving it with red brick, symbolizing the blood shed. Since 2001, an eternal flame, a work by Alfons Viaplana, and verses by Frederic Soler, offer a permanent tribute. Every September 11th, during La Diada, it stands as an undeniable symbol of Catalan identity.
