In the Barri Gòtic, Herboristeria del Rei at Carrer del Vidre 1 stands as a historic botanical establishment. Founded in 1818 by Josep Vilà, its prestige solidified with royal appointment in 1857, naming it Supplier to the Royal Household. The subsequent Isabeline-style renovation, led by set designer Francesc Soler i Rovirosa, endowed the space with a central marble fountain and a bust of naturalist Carl Linnaeus. Listed as a Local Cultural Asset, this spot, a backdrop for films and frequented by figures like Salvador Dalí, reopened in 2023, preserving its herbal and cultural legacy in Ciutat Vella.
