The venue
Located in l'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, the Hospital Clínic i Provincial in Barcelona is an eclectic classicist architectural complex, inaugurated in 1906. Designed by Ignasi C. Bartrolí and Josep Domènech Estapà, it stands out with its imposing façade on Casanova street, featuring a columned portico and allegorical reliefs. This expansive site, spanning two city blocks, houses the Faculty of Medicine, maintaining an intrinsic functional relationship. It was a pioneer in Spain for integrating medical assistance and teaching, becoming a benchmark during the Civil War and for its surgical innovations. Its façades blend exposed brick with smooth stucco, giving it a unique urban presence.
