The W Barcelona, popularly known as Hotel Vela, rises at Plaça de la Rosa dels Vents, a distinctive architectural landmark in Barceloneta. Designed by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura and completed in 2009, its sail-like form and silver glass facade seamlessly merge with the maritime landscape, reflecting the sky and the Mediterranean. Built on reclaimed land during port expansion, this 99-meter structure redefined the coastal silhouette, solidifying its status as an icon of urban renewal and architectural heritage in Ciutat Vella. Its presence sparks a constant dialogue between the city and the horizon.
