The venue
Nestled in Poble-sec, the Institut del Teatre is a cornerstone of Barcelona's performing arts scene. Founded in 1913 by Adrià Gual as Escola Catalana d'Art Dramàtic, its Plaça Margarida Xirgu campus, since 2000, showcases contemporary architecture by Lluís Xavier Comerón Graupera and Ramon Sanabria Boix. Its exterior lobby lends the complex a theatrical flair. This public hub, integrated into the Ciutat del Teatre, trains new generations in dance, acting, and set design, also housing a valuable Museum of Performing Arts, crucial for preserving and sharing Catalan stage heritage.
