The venue
Ricardo Bofill's Institut Nacional d'Educació Física de Catalunya stands tall in Montjuïc's Olympic Ring. Conceived for the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, where it hosted wrestling competitions, it's a landmark of postmodern and neoclassical architecture. Pioneering pre-stressed architectural concrete in Spain, its construction reveals a rectangular prism adapted to the topography, featuring a triangular pediment supported by Doric columns. Inside, two covered courtyards articulate the sports spaces. Today, it serves as a leading university center for sports sciences.
