The venue
Nestled on Montjuïc mountain, the Palauet Albéniz and Jardins de Joan Maragall offer a glimpse into the 1929 International Exposition. Built as the Royal Pavilion for Alfonso XIII, the palace stands out with its neoclassical and Escorial-style architecture, a striking counterpoint to Barcelona's Noucentista aesthetic. Though briefly envisioned as a music museum honoring Isaac Albéniz, it now serves as the official city residence for the monarchy. Its surrounding gardens, redesigned in 1970 and dedicated to poet Joan Maragall, feature a formal French and Mediterranean layout, complete with ponds, pergolas, and a collection of 32 sculptures, creating a space of tranquility. Open to the public on weekends, they invite a serene contemplation of the city's historical heritage.
