The venue
Designed between 1917 and 1924, the Jardins de Laribal were envisioned by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier and Nicolau M. Rubió Tudurí for Barcelona's 1929 International Exposition. Its design harnesses Montjuïc's topography with a system of terraces, staircases, and water features, echoing the aesthetics of Granada's carmenes and Arab gardens. La Font del Gat, with its historic spout, and the Escalera del Generalife, featuring cascades built into its handrails, are key highlights. Acquired by the City Council in 1908 from Josep Laribal, this space blends Mediterranean botany with 1920s sculptural elements.
