The venue
Nestled in Montjuïc, the Jardins de Ramon Margalef i López are a botanical legacy. Conceived in 1930 by Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí as an 'Acclimatization Garden', its original aim was to adapt foreign flora to the local climate. The space, featuring some 230 plant species across two levels, was renamed in 2023. This tribute honors Ramon Margalef, a pioneering ecologist and a central figure in 20th-century Catalan science, crucial to modern ecology. The garden also hosts the AIDS Memorial, an olive tree inscribed with verses by Miquel Martí i Pol, adding a commemorative layer to its significance.
