The venue
At Av. Santuari St Josep Muntanya 19, in the Salut neighborhood, stands Kasa de la Muntanya (KM), a building that encapsulates a century of Gràcia's urban history. Commissioned by Eusebi Güell in 1909, it initially served as a Civil Guard barracks, built amidst social conflicts to secure the area around Park Güell. Abandoned in 1983, the imposing stone edifice, with its exposed brick and masonry facade, was occupied in 1989. Since then, KM has become a self-managed social center and a benchmark for Barcelona's squatter movement, where the 'K' is a statement of principles. A hub for workshops, debates, and alternative cultural projects, its journey reflects resilience and social transformation within the district.
