The venue
At the heart of the El Putxet i el Farró neighborhood, L'antic Putxet—encompassing Manacor, Cadis, and Putxet streets—evokes a fin-de-siècle Barcelona. By the late 19th century, this spot was a summer escape for the industrial elite, who built grand villas and towers surrounded by gardens, a defining feature that remains. Eventually, it became home to figures like photographer Otho Lloyd and painter Olga Sacharoff, who resided at Manacor 3. Later, George Orwell sought refuge in Bosc Bertran, at the end of Putxet street, during the Civil War. Its urban weave, with irregular streets and buildings still boasting ancient small watchtowers, exudes a rustic, stately vibe, marked by lush greenery and a serene distance from city bustle. This cultural and architectural tapestry persists, a tangible testament to its historical evolution.
