Les Carasses: history sculpted in terracotta.

The venue
In the heart of Sant Andreu, Les Carasses stands as a stately 17th-century farmhouse, reimagined by time and architecture. Originally built between 1650 and 1651, it gained its distinctive historicist look in the 19th century through pivotal renovations. The main facade features remarkable terracotta figures – 'carasses': masks of a laughing man and a weeping woman – giving the building its unique name and character. Since 1931, it's housed the Escola Ignasi Iglésias, a testament to heritage adaptation. Cataloged as a Local Cultural Asset, Les Carasses encapsulates the rural memory of Sant Andreu de Palomar.
