The venue
In Poblenou, by Passeig Marítim del Bogatell, stands the Memorial for Traffic Victims, inaugurated in 2019. This eleven-meter steel bench fulfills a historic demand from victim associations. Its design features die-cut letters that, as the sun hits them, project a fragment of Salvador Espriu's poem "Cançó de la mort callada": "I feel how the silent death of men carries away my gift of words: my pain becomes pure silence." The interplay of light and shadow on the steel underscores the absent presence and the impact of road incidents on Sant Martí's urban collective memory.
