The venue
Opened in 1927, Mercat Galvany stands as an Artistic Monument in Sant Gervasi. Its architecture, a blend of Modernisme and 19th-century industrial engineering, features an imposing structure of iron and exposed brick. The Greek cross plan culminates in an octagonal central dome, enhanced by Modernista stained-glass windows and mosaics that evoke Barcelona's old coat of arms. With 28 iron columns supporting its roof, the building, designed by Pere Falqués and completed by Antoni de Falguera, maintains a constant dialogue with the district's urban life.
