The venue
In the heart of Nou Barris, Mercat Guineueta has stood since 1965, a response to the district's new migratory flows. Conceived by Anglada-Gelabert-Ribas, its original design featured functional exposed concrete and steel architecture, boasting a wide-span structure free of interior supports and distinctive skyllights, earning it a FAD Award nomination. A comprehensive 2011 renovation by Daniel Mòdol revitalized the building. It retained its structure and skylights, but introduced a translucent roof and refreshed facades with a prominent cantilever over Passeig de Valldaura, expanding the space to 6,500 m². This space remains a commercial and social epicenter, articulating Guineueta's urban identity.
