The venue
The Parc de Joan Miró, once known as the 'Slaughterhouse Park', embodies Barcelona's post-Franco urban rebirth. Opened in 1983, this L'Esquerra de l'Eixample green space was conceived by architects like Beth Galí, transforming an industrial lot into a vibrant urban lung. Its centerpiece? Joan Miró's iconic 'Dona i Ocell' sculpture, a 22-meter masterpiece covered in ceramic mosaic by Joan Gardy Artigas. Miró's last major work, it anchors surrealist abstraction in the city, interpreted as the link between the earthly and the celestial. The park blends Mediterranean flora with a versatile plaza, sparking a dialogue between public art and urban design.
