In the heart of Poble-sec, Air-raid Shelter 292 on Carrer de Piquer 44 emerges as a remnant of the Spanish Civil War, built in 1938 to protect civilians from bombings. Recently documented after being inaccessible for eight decades, this sixty-meter-long space reveals solid structures, brick linings, and vestiges of its original electrical installation. It also preserves posters with coexistence regulations, attesting to neighborhood organization and the cost of resistance. Its anomalous double-walled sealing adds a layer of mystery to its silenced history.
