The venue
At La Rambla 115, the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona stands as an eclectic testament to Josep Domènech i Estapà's architecture (1883-1894), a precursor to Modernisme. Founded in 1764, its facade features a clock that once regulated the city's official time, flanked by Rafael Atché's sculptures personifying science and art. Inside, the Sala dels Rellotges (Clock Room) houses Albert Billeter's unique astronomical clock. Its Assembly Hall hosted Albert Einstein's lecture in 1923. The institution also safeguards the daguerreotype camera from the first Spanish photograph and a vast historical library, establishing itself as a cultural and scientific hub in El Raval.
