The venue
In the heart of Sant Gervasi stands Torre Castanyer, a stately mansion whose silhouette evokes 19th-century romanticism and neoclassical elegance, after its 20th-century restoration by Francesc Mitjans i Miró. Built atop the old Torre dels Capellans and established by the Castanyer family, its history intertwines with Barcelona's cultural evolution. It temporarily housed child royalty during the 1888 Universal Exposition, an era marked by a unique neo-Arab pavilion built in its gardens. Later, its walls sheltered poet Antonio Machado in the final months of the Civil War, becoming the backdrop for his last chronicles for La Vanguardia before exile. Today, the estate, owned by the Güell family, safeguards a significant architectural and literary heritage.
