Barcelona has a playground a few minutes from almost any street: neighbourhood squares with a couple of swings, Eixample inner courtyards and large parks with play areas of several hundred square metres. The City Council has spent years renewing them through its plan for play in public space, which has brought larger areas, summer water play and one-of-a-kind features that have become weekend destinations.
