The Poblenou Festa Major 2026 is here from September 10-20 for its 154th edition, and this time the neighborhood is serious: nearly 70 organizations and collectives are organizing over 360 activities spread between carrer Fluvià and carrer Marina, from passeig Marítim to plaça de les Glòries. Ten days of street life, popular dinners, music, and traditional culture, led by the Coordinadora d'Entitats del Poblenou, with the timeless motto echoing in every event: celebrating Festa Major is building community.

The Pregó: The Historical Archive Kicks Off the Festivities

The inaugural event is on Saturday, September 12, at 7 PM, at the roundabout on Rambla and carrer Joncar. This year, the Arxiu Històric del Poblenou delivers the opening speech, celebrating its 50th anniversary — the entity that has safeguarded photographs, oral testimonies, and the neighborhood's documentary memory since 1976. Half an hour earlier, at 6:30 PM, the Pregó Parade winds down the Rambla from carrer Pere IV, and the following morning, Sunday, September 13, at 8 AM, the Matinades — gralles, tabals, and firecrackers — wake up the neighborhood along the same route to announce that the Festa has arrived.

Giants, Big-Heads, and the 45th Gathering

The closing weekend brings together the festive imagery. On Sunday, September 20, at 10 AM, the 45th Giants Gathering plants the neighborhood's giants — Bernat, Maria, and Lloro del 36 — at carrer Joncar 35 (Can Saladrigas), alongside figures from all over Catalonia, many of them this year sharing a common theme: they are birds. At 11:30 AM, the Giants Parade begins, and after a joint dance at the Casino roundabout, it escorts the figures back to their respective municipalities. At the same time, at the Rambla roundabout, the Human Towers Day brings together the Jove de Barcelona with the Castellers de Sabadell as guest team. Earlier, on Saturday, September 19, at 11 AM, the Schools' Parade gets the neighborhood's kids moving with their own batucadas.

The Correfoc (Fire Run), Saturday, September 19, at 9 PM

Led by the Colla del Drac del Poble Nou and the Colla de Diables del Poblenou, the correfoc starts from Plaça Prim at 9 PM and covers a good part of the Rambla up to the Casino roundabout. Along with the fireworks display, it's the most crowded event of the Festa. The organization recommends cotton clothing (never synthetic fibers, which melt with heat), long pants and sleeves, closed footwear —never sandals— and ear and eye protection if possible. And a rule that is repeated every year: never obstruct the passage of the groups nor touch their fire tools.

Concerts and Performances You Can't Miss

Between dinners, the Festa Major's music program is packed, with tributes, cover bands, havaneres, and sardanes spread throughout the neighborhood's streets. On Friday, September 18, as part of the Nit Jove de Bac de Roda-Diagonal, DJ Beverly Hits, Ni Brot, and Les Que Faltaband close out the night, one of the most anticipated cover band performances of the Festa. Here's a selection of the highlights:

Accessibility and Purple Points

The Festa Major offers reserved spaces for people with reduced mobility at the four central events with the highest attendance — the opening speech, fire run, giants parade, and fireworks display — marked on the venue map, in addition to adapted WC cabins in key locations. For incidents of aggression, there are two Purple Points (Rambla del Poblenou 49 and plaça Josep Mª Huertas Claveria), active between 10:30 PM and 3:30 AM on the busiest nights. La Milla del Drac (The Dragon's Mile), on September 18 at passeig Marítim del Bogatell, includes a race category designed for participants with diverse abilities.

The Grand Finale: Closing Parade and Fireworks Display

On Sunday, September 20, at 8:30 PM, the Closing Parade leads all the neighborhood's festive imagery from the Rambla roundabout to the beach, where at 10 PM, the Castell de Focs (Fireworks Display) marks the grand finale: the pyrotechnic show that annually closes the Festa Major over the passeig Marítim del Bogatell.

Silvia Maestre's Poster and Paco Monforte's Exhibition

This edition's poster is the work of Poblenou local Silvia Maestre, featuring a style that simulates embroidery on linen, starring l'Estarrufat (in red) and la Víbria (in blue), historical symbols of the neighborhood. As a cultural appetizer, on Thursday, September 10, at 7 PM, the photographic exhibition by Paco Monforte, "Llum i formes. Una mirada personal" ("Light and Forms. A Personal Look"), opens at Centre Cívic Can Felipa, viewable until September 20. At the end of the Rambla, as every year, the funfair completes the festive atmosphere for those who want to end the night with something more than a street dinner.

You can consult the full program of the Poblenou Festa Major 2026 in PDF, with over 360 activities day by day, street by street.
