FoodStart where the locals shop: the Abaceria market on Travessera de Gràcia. Wander past the fruit, charcuterie and fish stalls and, if it's morning, order something at one of the bars inside.

"Many stalls close in the afternoon: this one is best done in the morning."
Kick off your route at the iconic Plaça de la Vila, Gràcia's administrative and social heart. Admire the imposing clock tower and the old town hall building, symbols of the neighborhood's identity. It’s the perfect spot to get your bearings, feel the local pulse, and soak in the atmosphere before diving into your culinary adventure.
"Take a moment to check out the architectural details of the clock tower, and if it's time, listen for its bells. It's a must-stop to grasp Gràcia's history."
Just around the corner is Plaça del Sol, the liveliest square in the neighbourhood. By day it's terraces and families; towards evening it fills with young people. A good spot for a beer or a glass of wine before moving on.
"People live here: after 11 pm residents ask for quiet."
FoodHead up to Plaça de la Virreina, one of Gràcia's calmest squares, overlooked by the church of Sant Joan. At Virreina Bar, with its terrace right on the square, a vermouth with olives or patatas bravas is practically a must.
"The terrace fills up at weekend lunchtime: go before 1 pm."
VisitEnd the route at Casa Vicens, the first house Antoni Gaudí designed (1883-1885). Before the Gaudí of curves, colour rules here: flower tiles, brick and an Oriental feel.

"You need a ticket to go inside; if you don't, the facade alone is worth the stop."
